How To Speed Up Your Morning Routine And Get To Work Faster

It’s really easy to find yourself rushing out the door every morning with no idea how you got to that point. Truth is, if you’re getting up at the time you’re supposed to but still getting to work frazzled, your morning routine is probably the enemy.

Here are some tips to speed up your morning routine so you can have sufficient time and start your day off on the right note.

Prepare The Night Before

You can cut preparation time in half by doing most of the things in your morning routine the night before.

Plan what to wear. On Sundays, prepare all your outfits for the week, including underwear and accessories. Doing this ensures that you won’t find yourself running late because you couldn’t find a clean shirt or the outfit in your head just doesn’t look right.

Shower At Night. Before you completely dismiss this idea, consider how much time you spend in the bathroom every morning. Taking a shower at night means you can take as much time as you want, it’s also a great way to destress and will help you fall asleep faster. If you’re not prone to sweating a lot at night then you probably won’t notice the difference in the morning. You probably only shower once every 24 hours anyway, all you’re doing is changing the time frame while saving yourself time in the morning.

Create a morning playlist

Listening to music in the morning is a great way to hype yourself up for the day, and it serves a dual purpose by helping you keep track of your activities. For instance, you can use a song to time yourself in the shower (if taking one the night before isn’t an option), you can also use a playlist to time out your morning routine.

This way, you’ll know you’re running late if the song you listen to while eating breakfast is already up while you’re still in the shower.

Simplify Your Beauty Routine

Choose easy-to-manage hairstyles. Save time with wash and go hairstyles or by doing your hair prep the night before. Better yet, invest in protective hair options like braids, twists, weaves and/or wigs for your work week and leave the complicated updo for weekends.

Stick to makeup basics. Get familiar with multipurpose makeup, i.e. concealer/foundation, eyeshadow that doubles as a liner etc. Try to leave out products that require a waiting period (to dry) and while this may seem obvious, when you’re on your way to work is not the time to find your contours.
